Fansteel experience, Mr. Bailey worked for the Line Division of Union Carbide
Corporation, primarily in the application of industrial gases to steel making.

determine feasibility/application to depot activities and metallurgical
consultations. Dr. Cammett spent 20 years with Metcut Research Associates in
fatigue, fracture mechanics, residual stress measurement, metallurgical
research and failure analysis. He has also spent five years at GE/Cincinnati
specializing in fatigue, low cycle fatigue and fracture mechanics properties of
aircraft engine materials. He received his BS and MS in Metallurgical
Engineering from Ohio State University and his PhD in Metallurgical Engineering
from the University of Cincinnati. A Registered Professional Engineer, Dr.
Cammett is a fellow of ASTM, past Chairman of Committee E-9 on Fatigue, past
Chairman and member of ASM International and member of the International

SHOP PEENER. Jack received his BSEE degree in 1968 from Purdue University and
has been involved with shot peening since 1978. Technical achievements include
ten US Patents and inventor of the MagnaValve. As editor of THE SHOT PEENER, he
has assembled one of the largest libraries of articles on shot peening and
related topics, which has become an industry resource. He is a member of the
International Committee on Shot Peening, past-chairman of the International
Conference on Shot Peening (ICSP-6), which was held in San Francisco, CA.,
1996. He is a member of SAE and participates in the Aerospace Materials
Engineering Committee and is currently holds the position of Committee Chairman
of the Surface Enhancement Division of Fatigue Design and Evaluation

Dan Dickey:
President and owner of Innovative Peening Systems. Dan Received his education
from Southwest Missouri State University School of Business. He began his metal
finishing career in 1983 as a technical sales representative for a Southeastern
United States metal finishing distributor. After being promoted to sales
manager he later became president of the company and founded a division of the
company, Innovative Peening Systems (IPS). IPS started as an air blast rebuild
facility and progressed to manufacturing medium priced shot peening and
blasting machines. In 2000, he purchased Innovative Peening from the
distributor and now operates the company in Duluth, Georgia. Originally a
student of the first workshop in 1991, Dan has been a speaker at the shot peen
workshop since 1997. |

became supervisor of the drawing office between 1975 to 1978. He joined the
Wheelabrator Canada sales team in 1978 as a Territory Representative. Dan
graduated through the sales force as the Product Manager of Wheel Blast
Cleaning and Peening areas of the Wheelabrator Business. In 1999 through the
reorganization of the BCP Wheelabrator Group, Dan was assigned the duties of
Peening Manager for North America. |

University. Majoring in Metallurgy, he as over twenty years experience being
directly involved in the field of shot peening and blasting media. He spent
seventeen years at Metal Improvement Company, Cincinnati Division as Manager of
Technical Services and serving as Division Manager and Director of Research and
Development for the corporate office in Paramus, NJ. In 1988 he founded Premier
Shot Company and has been involved in all aspects of shot peening from
processing of parts to design and development of computer controlled shot
peening equipment. Premier Shot Company manufactures high quality conditioned
cut wire media for use in critical shot peening processes and also provides
services such as complete shot evaluation and introduction of new technology
items which involve Image Analysis for automatic inspection of shot peening

positions over the years with Wheelabrator Corporation, Blast Cleaning Products
(BCP), Blastworks Inc. US Filter and Progressive Technologies. His experience
is unique in that it has covered both centrifugal wheel peening and compressed
air nozzle peening. Ken's present focus is on airframe and land based turbine
shot peening applications and is pleased to be a presenter at these yea's Shot

enlisted in the United States Navy. Made eight deterrent patrols aboard the
fleet ballistic missile submarine Kamehameha (SSBN 642) as part of the Gold
crew. I was honorably discharge from the navy in 1979. In 1980 I began a
carrier as a nuclear plant startup engineer that spanned the next 14 years and
included the startup of nuclear plants in Ohio, Arizona, New York,
Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia (High Level Waste
Vitrafication Facility). In 1994 I had the opportunity to go back to school and
obtain a degree in Business Management from Lakeland Collage. In 1995 I went to
work for W.S. Tyler in Mentor, Ohio as the Quality Control Manager. In a short
time I became involved in a new photo optical particle analysis technology that
W.S. Tyler and Haver & Boecker were bringing to the market. In 1998 I was
made Product Manager for the Computerized Particle Analyzer (CPA). As the CPA
Product Manager I am responsible for sales and service of the instrument in
North & South America, Mexico and Canada. |

native of Billings, MT., Michael graduated in 1986 with a B.S. degree in
Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Industrial & Management
Engineering from Montana State University in Bozeman, Mt. Since college
graduation, he has been employed by the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group at
their Fabrication Division in Auburn, WA. His first (2) years were spent as a
Manufacturing Engineering planner, primarily supporting the B-2 program. Over
the next 2 years, he successfully completed an engineering-in-training
rotation, where he had assignments in NC programming, tool design, and sheet
metal process engineering. Since 1990, he has worked as a process engineer in
the Machined Products manufacturing business unit, which makes various landing
gear support and wing components for all Boeing commercial airplane models.
Since 1992, his primary area of responsibility has been in supporting the
shotpeen area. He has led efforts in area process improvements, coordinating
new shotpeen work, purchasing shotpeen machines, documenting area procedures
and training. In the last (2) years, his responsibilities have also included
providing manufacturing engineering support to his shop's assembly and kitting
areas. Michael resides in Federal Way, WA, with his wife, Dena, and 3 year old

Herb joined Zero Manufacturing in 1970, supervising the assembly and
testing of the companies Blast N Peen line of automated and manual cabinets. In
1986 Clemco Industries acquired Zero Manufacturing and putting Herb in the
position to manage the Sample-processing Laboratory at Clemco in Washington,
MO. He conducts shot peening classes both on-site and at their facility. He has
been involved with Sample Processing and Research and Development for most of
his time with Clemco. The Clemco laboratory tests the effects of shot peening,
blast cleaning, deburring, dry stripping and surface finishing processes in
parts submitted by their customers. Herb has been instrumental in applying more
control in shot peening and developing lightweight media equipment for Clemco's
Aerolyte Systems Division. In the area of shot peening applications, Herb and
his technicians determine the size, type and number of blast guns needed to
produce acceptable parts and meet production requirements, creating specialized
nozzles, parts fixtures and even robotic systems when needed. |

involved with the shot peening process for over 12 years. Upon receiving his
BSME he joined General Electric and held several positions in both the
Corporate Manufacturing Management Program and the Manufacturing Technology
laboratory (MTL) within GE Aircraft Engines. He gained shot peening expertise
by developing new peening processes, tooling analytical analysis and inspection
tools, and equipment to peen critical aircraft engine components. Jim was
instrumental in introducing NC peening to GE's production division by
specifying and installing new equipment, NC peening methods and operator
training. During these assignments Jim also received a MSME from the University
of Cincinnati. Jim has also had the distinguished honor of being part of their
team named the 1993 "Shot Peener of the Year". In 1994, Jim left GE to join
Progressive Technologies as Manager of Process Engineering. In this position,
Jim developed and enhanced Progressive's process experience to aid in the
design and build of industry leading peening, blasting, and water jet machine
tools. |
