Abstract:
Shot peening is recognized as a means of increasing fatigue strength of machine parts. Long accepted as a meams of correcting fatigue failures, the possibilities of its use in the design of machine parts generally appear to be inderestimated. Although used primarily for increasing fatigue strength, if incorporated into gear design, shot peening can be used to avoid other types of failure.
