Abstract:
A study has been made to investigate the temperature change on surface of specimen using a thermograph during shot peening. It was confirmed that the temperature change of annealed specimens is greater than that of carburized specimens, as well as an occurence of temperature ascent when peening with smaller shot. However, the softened smallest shot experienced only slight temperature changes. This change was caused mainly by abrasion.
