Abstract:
This instruction outlines the minimum requirements for materials, equipment and procedures to be used for shot peening of aircraft parts. Shot peening, as referred to in
this instruction, is intended to be used for building-up compressive stresses on specified surfaces of metallic parts (steel, stainless steel, aluminum etc.) primarily for
increasing fatigue strength.
This instruction does not apply to shot blasting for the purpose of shot cleaning but the same facilities may be used for this purpose. (Refer to PS 68.20 for blast
cleaning).
