Abstract:
Reverse bending tests were run on hardening and quench-tempered specimens of various thicknesses without and after shot peening. Wohler curves of CK45 were also determined.
Other tests were X-ray diffraction determination of surface stress depth distribution in initial condition and after fatigue stress. Also described is the surface
topography of steels tested and microhardness measurements. An 0.45% carbon steel in the hardened and quenched-tempered state was the tested material. Four test series
were run with various thicknesses to determine shot peening effect on dynamic strength.
