Abstract:
This paper presents a method for predicting the fatigue strength of shot peened parts at any given fatigue life. The method considers the different criteria for crack
initiation, arrest of small cracks, and change of the self-stress by yielding. Guides are given for choosing a good peening intensity and for specifying the desired result.
