Shot peening has become a common production method of increasing the fatigue life of crankshafts. In each of the cases cited below, the Metal Improvement Co. performed the
shop peening and the manufacturer performed the fatigue tests and reported the results. Also, in each case, the tests resulted in shot peening being used as a production
process.
