Why was shot peening technology not used extensively? The pracatical use of shot peening (hereafter referred to as S/P) technology to strengthen metals has been used since
around 1920. Many research reports were already published around 1940 according to reference. In Japan however, it is understood for the present tha S/P is effective but
S/P application is not accerelated positively except S/P to springs as a present situation. There are, of course, some companies which have had bright achievements over the
last 20 years.
