Abstract:
Of all the improtant characteristics of shot peening media, by far the most critical are size and shape. New technology is presently available that is capable of evaluating
both size and shpe simultaneously. Image Analysis is a computerized vision system able to accurately measure size (diameter) and shape (roundness) of shot particles. Image
analysis offers substantially improved precision and accuracy in measurements of media size and shape while providing data which is more detailed and descriptive than
possible with traditional methods: Sieve Analysis (size) and Visual Inspection (shape).
