Purpose: This specification defines the requirements for shot peening aluminum alloy aircraft wheel and brake components using cast steel and cut wire shot for the purpose
of providing surface compressive stresses to prolong fatigue life. Cut wire shot is utilized in the pneumatic type shot peeners in order to prevent brown staining that
occurs when cast steel shot is used.
