ABSTRACT
The surface states and the mechanical behaviour of sintered iron (ASC 100.29) with different initial densities were studied after shot peening and deep rolling. This
included the investigation of topography, depth profiles of microhardness, density and residual stresses and the determination of the behaviour at tensile, impact and
alternating bending fatigue loading. The influence of the parameters used during the mechanical surface treatments on these properties will be discussed.
