Dear Sirs,

Considering different shot material (eg. glass or steel) with same size, we modify the peening conditions to obtain the same almen intensity, then we process a fixed material, but using different media type. How this influence the depth of compressed layer in the processed material?. We should expect equal or different depth?

Thank you very much in advance. Best Regards,

Dear Mr. Martin,

As probably you will know, the diameter of the dimple (impact) is directly dependant of the intensity and the diameter of the media. And the depth of the compressed layer for a sigle impact is three times (aprox.) the diameter of the dimple.
So, in your example, i would suggest you to expect similar depths for both media.

And what about stress profile vs depth (will be the same). ?
