We are presently using almen N (grade II) for measuring residual stresses in HVOF application. There seems to be a difference between a grit blasted almen and non-blasted almen in intensity measurement. Is it possible that the grit blasted almen gets saturated after blast and has a tendency of having a lower deflection after HVOF spray?
