Hello everyone,

Is there an industry standard or most commonly used peening media for shot peening threads?

Thank you.

Some more information is needed.

What type of thread?
Size of thread?
Material type?

Hi Walter,

We have internal 1.560-12 Stub Acme -2G thread.
Material: 17-4 PH / 15-5 PH.
Required glass shot size .007. We think that glass shot is glass bead, this is the same?

Can you help to advise intensity, standard or something relative to shot peening this kind of thread?

Thank you.

I'm assuming this is for oil and gas exploration.

Generally for thread connections .008-.010A with stainless steel conditioned cut wire.

Stub Acme threads are also glass bead peened using AGB-18 .006-.008" .004-.006N Intensity.

Using that size Glass Beads I think you must of meant .006-.008" or .004-.006" N not " A

Yes, N scale. Thanks for pointing that out. I've corrected my post.
