I am an estimator working on a project which specifies shot peening on the internal welds of hot gas stoves. The specifications refers to a special paint called MEGUIN Megol-Grundweib which seems to be German. It is a measure to verify uniformity and extent of coverage on a shot peened area. It specifies that the shot peening will be finished after the paint has been removed completely.
Has anyone come across this before and if so was it using this product or something different.
Ricardo, we have a paint used for peening coverage called Fluro-Finder III. It is available in powder or liquid form. The liquid is MEK is classified as hazardous chemical and is therefore expensive to ship. If you can add the MEK yourself we can ship the powder version. Contact sales at Electronics Inc 1-574-256-5001.

Jack:

We too use the Fluro Finder III for our final audits / approvals, but we find it is harder to use on aluminum surfaces, leaving small yellow dots all over the parts no matter how many times we peen it (possibly we are not mixing enough MEK to the powder?).

In our shop we are using a sprayable dye (layout fluid) for checking our coverage while we are creating the peening program. The dye comes in an aerosol can and we find it easier to work with than the fluro finder. Are there any other types of coverage verification dyes that are approved for the use of coverage verification during source audits?

Thanks
Jay
