Hi,

I'm designing a workholding fixture for shot peening application and I'd like to know what materials are habitually used to endure the abrasion and wear from shot peening environment?

Thanks!

David,
We use a urethanes as a holding fixture and some times we combine it with either steel or aluim. It all depends on what your parts are.

David,

The best materail is UHMW. We use it for 90% of our hard tooling.

Do you use uretane (or UHMW) as a "liner" for your fixtures or they are made entirely of those materials?

We use UHMW for both masking and part holding fixtures. It's easy to machine and does not give off a bad smell when machining.
