Hi Socrates, I am required to peen a 4A intensity, what sized strip will I use to produce a saturation graph for this?
AM2430 paragraph 3.2.2.2
“A” strips are generally used from 4A to 24A. “N” strip for lower intensity values

Do I still use “A” strips for creating an intensity of 4A?
Will the lower values created while proving the intensity point give a correct saturation graph?

Thanks

Usually when only one intensity value is given instead of a range the range is assumed to be the vaule plus three. In your case the assumed range would be 4-7A. The A strip would be used since the spec refers to the A value. Personnaly I would have specified the N range of values approximately 12-21N but this would have to be established by the part owner to verify validity.
By definition, if you are required to peen to an intensity of 4A then you must use "A" strips for producing saturstion grsphs. As you point out, the value of 4A is just on the borderline. "N" strips would be more sensitive but any change would have to be agreed with your customer.
