I have a print that calls for shot peening all over per AMS-S-13165. The print also states to roller burnish 4 holes. My question is should the holes be roller burnished prior to or after shot peening? Or do you think the print is wrong and the holes should be plugged during shot peen?

Hi Walter,
I've seend similar requirements on an aluminium part, in this case the roller burnishing was performed before shot peening, and the holes were masked for the shot peening operation. However I think on that drawing the burnishing was optional if holes were shot peened. In my case the holes were machined, roller burnished, finish machined, and then the part was shot peened with those holes masked.
