I have a question for you.
I was doing a job on some springs, the wire was steel type 1 i/a/w QQ-W-428 .0625 dia. The wire is oil quenched which puts a bluish color on the surface. I was cleaning the spring at 35 psi to remove the bluing. I then checked the wire height and then compressed them to see if they had taken a set. They did! You had mentioned several times that if you apply a compressive stress to the surface the spring would grow a bit.. That applied also if you were cleaning the spring since you were putting a slight compression in.

These spring got smaller in height. Can you explain? I tried looking in the library for the answer.

Thanks for the help!
