Hi,

We are having a problem with new workholdings that we need for shot-peening applications.

Usually we use an F-155 steel (spanish spec, I'm afraid) followed by a cementing(=carburizing?) process. Now, it seems that the workholdings we need are too large (Diameter > 1200 mm) and distort too much with a typical cementing process. So, when finishing to final dimension the cemented layer is also removed.

We have tried nitriding for other similar fixtures, but these are wearing faster.

Do you know of a good material + treatment combination for large shot-peening workholdings? Maybe a thermal-sprayed layer of tunsgten carbide, or other coating?

Thanks for your help, best regards,
