I recently have been requested to do a shot peening process according to MIL 51316SC std.

Can anybody tell me what is this std about?

Is it possible to get a copy anywhere?

The specification number is MIL-S-13165C. This was maintained by the U.S. Government and then cancelled and sent to SAE where it was renamed AMS-S-13165 with identical requirements. You can purchase the AMS version from SAE. You can download the MIL version free from http://www.shotpeener.com/library/spc/1989020.htm

Note: The AMS-S-13165 has been cancelled by SAE with allowing one year to convert to AMS 2430. If your customer specifically says to use the MIL-S-13165 then you may not have to convert to AMS 2430. Be sure to check your customers quality manual or other restrictions.
