The new AMS 13165 and AMS2432 both list the max temperature after shotpeening aluminum and magnesium to be 200F. It is my understanding that several OEM's allow temperatures that exceed this value, some by up to 75F. My question is: Does a curve or other data exist that exhibits a "temperature trigger", so to speak, that below a particular value embrittlement relief does not occur? If so, could somebody assist me in locating this information? The particular alloys in question are the 2XXX, 6XXX, and 7XXX aluminums. I am assuming this data would include times associated with the temperature values.
