Hello,
I have a print that has denoted max .001 removal after shotpeen to reach final dimensions. Made the mistake of removing too much and the customer wants rework.
The callout is for 8-12A, 200% coverage, ASR220-330 cast steel, peen per AMS2432. The part is 15-5 44-48 Rc.
I'm looking for some insight on the effect that reworking can have, not just this scenario but for broad range as well. Is there a greater risk of overpeening, can a difference in peening intensity from original operation to rework have effects, is there a better way to fix the problem I created, etc.
Any knowledge is appreciated. Thanks.
