Abstract:
INTRODUCTION Two parameters dominate shot peening effectiveness: COVERAGE and PEENING INTENSITY. Coverage is two-dimensional, easy to define (percentage of surface covered by indentations), visible and can be measured directly. Peening intensity, on the other hand, is three-dimensional, difficult to define, invisible and can only be measured indirectly.
