I think we should make the Peen Specifications clearer when it comes inspecting the edges in areas to be peened, pre and post peen. Initial qualification of the peen process we should be more specific on how we inspect edges in the post peen condition in order to confirm all edges are free from roll over caused by the peening. Also shot Peeners typically preform a general visual inspection before peen, I think peeners should "sharpen" their focus when it comes to the size and quality of all edges to be peened. IF edges are suspect, the part manufacturer should be alerted and should improve their process prior to peening any parts. Edges to be peened should be .010 inches minimum and properly rounded.

For Critical Parts

Qualify Peen process: (Direct and Destructive Inspection)
Inspect edges using white light at 10X-30X magnification or by destructive testing at higher magnification such as 200X-500X.

Production Peening
Inspect part to confirm peen coverage and confirm edge condition Post Peen by using white light and 10X-30X Magnification.
