One solution is to feed the air/bead mixture via a side-entry tube into a large-diameter bucket with the bucket being covered in a fine-mesh cloth. A 40mm diameter entry tube slows 300m/s air from a 4mm diameter nozzle down to 3m/s. If the bucket has a diameter of 400mm then the flow of air through the mesh covering is at only 30mm per second.
