We have recently started peening of spur and helical gears. The equipment we are using is a wheel type machine wherein a stack of gears are rotated in front of a vertical wheel. The arc height and saturation curves are fine.

But we are getting bulge at the gear tip after peening. This phenomenon is not same for all the teeth but varies and some even do not show any bulging. What we desire is that either there should be no bulging or the bulging should be uniform so that we can compensate for it in gear grinding [before peening].

Any helpful suggestions will be highly appreciated.
