Abstract:
Shot peening is a very important metalworking process–mainly used to substantially improve the fatigue life of components. There is now such a wealth of information about the process that often one cannot “see the wood for the trees”. This British idiom carries a dictionary definition: “If someone can’t see the wood for the trees, they get so caught up in small details that they fail to understand the bigger picture.”
